We’ll be at the Innovative Prisons Infrastructure Conference (IPIC)

EVENT

We’ll be at the European Organisation of Prison and Correctional Services (EUROPRIS) in Istanbul from 24 – 26 April 2024, for the first global Innovative Prisons Infrastructure Conference (IPIC):

”Sustainable Planning and Design for Better Corrections”, hosted by the Turkish Ministry of Justice and the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses, and delivered in partnership by the International Corrections and Prisons Association (ICPA) and EuroPris.

As the planning and design framework continually changes in custodial facilities, IPIC presents a new opportunity to bring experts in the field of prison planning and design together to improve the understanding of how modern planning and design knowledge can be seen by correctional professionals as a driver for change.

We’ll be showcasing SafetyNet™ Custodial, a radio communications and wireless alarm solutions designed for the operational control and safety of your staff in the prison environment.

In a potentially volatile setting of a prison, staying connected and protected is non-negotiable. Trust our solutions to optimise communication, safeguard lives, and maintain control at all times.

SafetyNet Custodial at HMP Stirling provides peace of mind

We recently integrated SafetyNet Digital, SafetyNet Locator and SafetyNet Mesh to create a fully integrated solution – SafetyNet Custodial

SafetyNet Custodial grew from a requirement to provide a new personal alarm for the prison service using the latest digital technology, integrated with TETRA radio equipment and indoor location.

We’re thrilled to report that our we have successfully provided this new integrated radio and staff alarm to the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) for the new HMP & YOI Stirling, Scotland’s national facility for women in custody. The facility replaces HMP & YOI Corton Vale and is a smaller, and better equipped provision for both staff and visitors.

Our remit was to provide all staff on duty with a personal alarm used alongside and integrated with the site-wide radio system under control room management. Our solution is Protect+, a simple compact personal staff alarm unit used by support staff, with prison officers using TETRA radios in parallel. TETRA radios are enhanced by adding a module to provide a personal alarm and location functionality.

A network of beacons provides Protect+ and TETRA radios with indoor location information combining the benefits of TETRA digital radio and IoT technology. The new system is both futureproof and scalable allowing existing system to be upgraded.

Combining SafetyNet Protect+ personal staff alarms with the TETRA radio scheme provides up to date and accurate situational awareness using both visual and audible alert to all users on duty in the event of an incident, as well as integrating that information with other systems on site such as CCTV.

What are the highlights of SafetyNet custodial?

  • Robust coverage for critical communications
  • Real-time location monitoring for assistance to be despatched to an exact location.
  • Continuous tracking or location by alert or request
  • Integration with CCTV through the main control system for a quick, targeted response

Successfully delivering the project provides SPS Staff with a system that is resilient and robust with instantaneous incident information delivery, allowing all staff involved to handle any situation which arise quickly and with minimal disruption.

With nearly thirty years’ experience of designing private mobile radio systems for custodial environments, we understand what is demanded by staff working in sometimes difficult circumstances. SafetyNet Custodial is designed as a powerful tool to manage incidents and is sufficiently flexible to be adapted to meet specific needs of each customer and site.
